Learn from mistakes and move on
Tough couple weeks. The client I spoke about did not reconsider my offer, unfortunately. But, that’s okay! That’s all part of being an entrepreneur. You just have to take the defeats, learn from them, and move on to the next opportunity!
I definitely learned that I need to communicate the value of my services to my clients in a better way. Thankfully, there are more clients I’m working on and this won’t impact my business in a big way!
My Business Goals
I think I got ahead of myself when I rebooted CollegeInvestr. I started talking about my businesses and what’s going on in my day-to-day but I didn’t discuss what my goals are and what I want to accomplish with my ventures. These goals have evolved over time and I’m sure they’ll continue to develop as things change.
If you’d like to hear the abridged, audio version of this blog post, listen below!
I want to build a massive business empire. It’s as simple as that. “Why?” you might ask. Don’t get me wrong, the money would be fantastic. I’m a big car guy and I wouldn’t mind having a massive collection of sports cars. Or, travel the world without having to worry about what it would cost. But, the reason I really want to build a massive business empire is because I love the struggle it takes in order to get there.
If you aren’t a fan of Gary Vaynerchuk, you should be. While some people think he’s preachy, I personally find him motivational and his drive to build an empire and record it is fascinating. His entire mantra is to enjoy the climb to the top. The money is a secondary luxury, but the personal challenge and the satisfaction of building a business from scratch is much more appealing to both Gary and I. Not only do I enjoy the struggle, but I also enjoy waking up every single morning to a different set of challenges. No two days are ever the same. I’m always fighting a different fire or building a different bridge.
Living the entrepreneur lifestyle is such a unique and beneficial experience, that I would recommend it to everyone. I worked a day job for years and after building my own business and transitioning to being fully self employed, I wouldn’t give it up for the world.
I love working with people, forging new connections, and building my companies more than anything and I hope that CollegeInvestr will help inspire young entrepreneurs like myself to continue to hustle. Maybe I’ll be able to influence other individuals who haven’t started a business yet but have always wanted to!
Yes that’s right. I’m publishing a weekly podcast based around the CollegeInvestr project. I’ve always wanted to do more videos for the CollegeInvestr brand, but I just haven’t had the time or the equipment to do high quality productions. So, I think the podcast format is the next best thing. This will allow me to get my ideas and ramblings out in audio form.
It’s much easier for me to talk about my businesses and the challenges I’m facing when I’m speaking directly to my audience. The topics of the podcast will correspond with the blog post of that week and will provide another way for my readers to consume CollegeInvestr content! For now we’ll be using SoundCloud to host the podcast but I am working on adding our introductory podcast to iTunes.

Expect to see a podcast every Sunday for the time being. Depending on how it’s received, I may increase the frequency of the podcasts. I really enjoyed making the introductory podcast and this is a format that I can get behind! Remember to scroll up and listen to the podcast if you haven’t already. I give a little more insight into my past and the plans for CollegeInvestr on the podcast.
